In my view, access to open education resources via online courses such as the Connectivism and Connective Knowledge (CCK09) Course is very valuable, if not, critically important. Within formal institutions of learning, a variety of approaches and methodologies are currently being introduced to students/learners/participants in the field of e-learning. A question arises as to the degree of emphasis placed upon these varying approaches amongst formal educational institutions. Clearly, the ability to learn beyond the limitations of traditional educational systems provides learners with the freedom to explore a wider range of possibilities.
