CCK09 Connectivism – Learning Online
CCK09 – Connectivism & Connective Knowledge e-Learning: George Siemens and Stephen Downes are facilitating a symposium on Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) and Personal Learning Networks (PLNs) between 13th-16th October, 2009. Refer to URL: [http://ltc.umanitoba.ca/blogs/ples/about]. I really like the idea of the online learner organizing the technologies they use and their own learning. At this stage, we’re into Week 5 of a 12 week course on e-Learning. We’ve been introduced to the theory of Connectivism by the two facilitators, George Siemens and Stephen Downes, who are academics in Canada. So far we’ve watched introductory videos, done weekly readings; responded and reflected upon Connectivist theory via our weblogs, the CCK09 course Wiki, CCK09 SecondLife, CCK09 twitter, CCK09 Moodle, CCK09 Pipes, CCK09 Ning group, CCK09 Pagecast; participated in live sessions and/or listened to audio recording via Elluminate – and more. We’ve been introduced to some of the basic concepts and theory associated with Connectivism and this week we are being introduced to PLEs & PLNs based upon a ‘Connectivist and Connective Knowledge’ theoretical approach.
